Tell us about your career journey and growth at EfficiencyOne.

I’m currently the Program Specialist for the African Nova Scotian pilot program, which officially launched in 2024. Before the launch, I was involved in several behind‑the‑scenes tasks to help get the program started.

I began my journey at Efficiency Nova Scotia over 10 years ago as a co‑op student. From there, I transitioned into a term position and later became a full‑time employee. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to support a variety of programs and departments across the organization.

What is most meaningful about your current role?

The most meaningful part of my role is being able to support African Nova Scotian communities by helping make their homes more energy efficient. Being part of an organization dedicated to driving energy savings for Nova Scotians also allows me to contribute to a more sustainable future.

What has been the most impactful project you’ve worked on to date?

The most impactful work I’ve done has been improving energy efficiency in homes within the African Nova Scotian communities. We are sometimes left out or aren’t always aware of programs that could benefit us.

Our program focuses on enhancing home efficiency, reducing energy costs, and supporting healthier living environments. It’s rewarding to be able to make a positive impact in my community, even if it’s in a small way.

If you could go back in time and give your younger self one piece of career advice, what would it be?

If I could go back and share some advice with my younger self, I’d tell her not to let fear or shyness hold her back from new opportunities and experiences, to always embrace the journey, I’d remind her that every step, even the challenging ones can lead to growth and improvement, And lastly I would tell her to always be kind to herself.

What is your favourite place(s) or thing(s) to do in Nova Scotia? Why?

One of my favourite things to do is spend time with my family, especially on Sundays. It has been a cherished tradition within my family for years, where we get to share a meal, catch up, laugh and unwind together. It’s the perfect way to start the week. I also enjoy being active either in the gym or exploring different trails around HRM; one of my favourite trails is the Salt Marsh Trail.

What is your favourite thing about working at EfficiencyOne?

What I enjoy most about working at EfficiencyOne is the strong emphasis on work‑life balance and professional development. The organization truly supports employees in balancing their personal and professional lives while offering opportunities for growth.

We also have access to great benefits and programs, and we’re able to give back to various organizations. It’s fulfilling to be part of a workplace that values health, personal growth, and community impact.
